Rain in Delhi

After experiencing wet and overcast conditions on Saturday, Delhiites woke up to a bright and sunny day on Sunday. A moving western disturbance caused moderate to heavy rain in the Delhi-NCR region on Friday. Rain was witnessed in the early hours of Saturday as well. Temperatures in the national capital took a plunge as conditions became cooler. But with rain finally subsiding, warmer days lie ahead for Delhiites.

In about 24 hours’ time, between Friday and Saturday, several places in Delhi recorded rain higher than the monthly normal. On Saturday too, Delhi-NCR region recorded rain in double digits. The spell of rain over the weekend brought down the maximum temperature in the region. Temperatures were recorded below normal with Safdarjung Observatory recording 30.4°C on Friday.

But conditions are now expected to improve. After receiving widespread rain over the weekend, Delhi is now expected to witness clear weather conditions. Sunday is expected to remain pleasant with maximum temperature recording in the low-30s and minimum settling in mid-20s. A warm afternoon will be followed by a cool evening on Sunday. But Monday onwards, hot weather conditions are expected to prevail in the region.

The month of March brought unseasonal record-breaking rain for Delhi-NCR region. This was followed by an unusually wet and cloudy start to April. Cool (and at times cold) conditions prevailed throughout March, but the weather is expected to heat up in April. As the sun shines bright and the weather clears up, temperatures are expected to rise in the national capital.
