The first active Western disturbance approached the Western Himalayas on October 9. Its impact was seen up to Northern parts of Punjab. Scattered light to moderate rain and isolated snowfall occurred over the Western Himalayas on October 9. Two successive Western disturbances approached the Hills of the Western Himalayas between October 13 and 17.
Now the intensity and frequency of Western disturbance have gone down significantly. They can be seen as a trough or cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and northern parts of Pakistan. The feeble nature of these Western disturbances will have no significant impact over the Hills in terms of rain or snow until and of October. Therefore, this is the ideal time to visit hilly destinations.
The weather will be cool, comfortable, and sunny during the daytime and cold during the night. Chances of landslide and mudslide are ruled out. However, people who want to witness snowfall will have to wait until the first half of November. The intensity of Western disturbance usually increases by the second week of November and continues until February or March with the peak intensity during December and January.
