Unchanging Weather Conditions For Delhi: Baleful Pollution Level Persist

November 4, 2022 1:31 PM |

National capital has been enduring dry weather conditions for fairly long. Last spell of rain was witnessed on 11th October 2022 and completely arid conditions since then. Western disturbances have thronged exclusively the mountains and left the capital city curious for rains. Month of November as such is the least rainiest of all and even has a precedence of observing totally dry weather, on more than one occasions, for the entire month.

Western disturbance has just cleared the northern hills and a fresh one has grabbed the baton, knocking higher reaches of Kashmir and Ladakh. This feature will induce a cyclonic circulation and spread its span to reach entire mountainous ranges, foothills and parts of Punjab and Haryana, over the next 5-6 days. Delhi remains far from the reach of this weather system and may not witness any direct impact.

Under the combined  influence of these 2 weather systems, the wind pattern for Delhi will be in the doldrums for the next 5-6 days. Mostly, the breeze will be light and unsteady.  It will lack the potential to churn the lower layers of atmosphere.

Thick envelope of mist and smoke will not allow the Sun to be hot enough for dispersion of pollutants. Under such conditions, Delhiites will have to live with hurtful pollution levels, more so in the morning and late evening hours. NCR area will be equally hazardous in terms of air quality and may not find any reprieve before 11th November.
