Unseasonal Thunderstorm Activity For Vidarbha, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh - Hailstorm Likely

February 23, 2024 4:26 PM |

Another round of unseasonal weather activity is likely to come up for the central parts of the country, very soon. These parts observed similar activity, earlier in the month, as well. During the previous event, unseasonal activity had travelled through Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh to  Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. The current spell will not be as long as the previous one and will remain limited largely  to the central states.

A very uncommon feature of wind discontinuity is likely to develop over Telangana, Vidarbha and South Chhattisgarh region, on 24th Feb. Later, a cyclonic circulation may also get embedded in this feature, along with a trough extending southward across interior Karnataka. An anticyclone over the Bay of Bengal will fuel moist winds and be the main trigger for this unseasonal weather activity.

The weather activity will remain mild and scattered too, on 24th and 25th Feb. It may begin on 24th Feb with parts of Telangana, South Chhattisgarh and neighbouring Odisha. The next day, on 25th Feb, it will extend to Vidarbha and a few parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The weather activity will peak in intensity and spread on 26th & 27th Feb, more of it on 26th Feb and cover South and East Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and the state of Jharkhand. Lightening, gusty winds and possibly hailstorms will strike a few places on 26th Feb. On 27th Feb, this weather activity, albeit mild, will reach parts of Southeast Uttar Pradesh and West Bihar.
