Maharashtra Rain

The arrival of Southwest Monsoon over Maharashtra bought a lot of hope to not only the people of the state capital but also to the other regions like Marathwada that has been the worst drought hit. The other parts of Maharashtra like Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha have also waited for the Monsoon showers desperately.

Monsoon too came with a bang with most parts of the state particularly the coastal areas witnessing heavy to extremely heavy rains in a single spell. In fact, rains did lash parts of the state, mainly Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra in the last 24 hours as well. Moreover, as for the next couple of hours, light to moderate spells will continue to pour over parts of Maharashtra.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, these rains were attributed to the Monsoon surge that has been prevailing over the region that has given rainfall in varied intensity to the parts of the state. However, with Monsoon going weak over the region, rains are expected to now reduce.

Though, light to moderate spells is expected to continue over the Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada region for the next 24-48 hours. Thereafter, scattered light to moderate rains will take over the light to moderate spells.

As on June 18, Marathwada is 108% rain surplus, Madhya Maharashtra is 51% rain surplus, Vidarbha 30% and Konkan & Goa is 16% rain surplus.
