Weather in major cities of India

The scorching heat of summer and mushy monsoon seems a gone by past as winter has set in with an air of euphoria in North, East and Central India. On the other hand, South India is being lashed by frequent occurrence of rain.

Delhi

Savouring roasted peanuts with matka chai or hosting barbeque parties, Delhiites are definitely at their best during winter in India.

On Thursday, Delhiites woke up to a slightly chilly morning as minimum temperature settled at 11.7°C. There are feeble western disturbances in the extreme higher reaches but they haven’t tracked down to North India. Consequently, Delhi has been dry for the entire month and rainfall is unlikely in the coming days as well.

Only shallow fog was witnessed today morning as visibility remained close to 800 meters.

Lucknow

The City of Nawabs, Lucknow has been witnessing misty mornings with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 27°C and 8°C, respectively. As temperatures came down to single digits, people here could be seen warming hands sitting beside a bonfire.

The city has been cold and dry since a week now and no weather system is likely to bring much change in its present conditions for next couple of days.

Kolkata

There is hardly anything more comforting than a piping hot cup of tea on a cold winter morning in Kolkata. Winter is the most pleasant season in this mishti city and is thus, the best time from the perspective of tourism.

At present maximum temperature is 29°C and minimum 16.6°C. Fog has still not affected air, road or rail traffic here and rainfall is unlikely in the coming days.

Bhopal

The city recorded 29°C as the maximum and 12.4°C as minimum on Thursday. Here again, winter is best time for tourists to explore the beauty of Bhopal. Unseasonal rain has stopped in Central India and rain will not be a hindrance for visitors in the coming one week.

Comfortable days and cool nights will help one to explore the authentic beauty of the region. Cool breeze blowing at night will be an added attraction.

Mumbai

The western part of the country is comparatively warmer than rest of the country at present. In Mumbai, day temperature is quite high at 36°C, making the afternoon hours hot and sultry. Night is comparatively cooler with minimums around 25°C.

Bangalore

An easy anchor, the IT hub of the country, Bangalore enjoys comfortable weather throughout the year. At present as well, the maximum and minimum temperatures are hovering around 28°C and 18.3°C, respectively.

Weather in Bangalore is generally warm during the day and very pleasant during the night because of its terrain. It is a plateau and receives cool winds at nights from the nearby hills.

Hyderabad

Often dubbed as the Pearl City of India and famous for its delicious Biryani, Hyderabad enjoys mild winters. Presently, the city has been experiencing misty nights with minimums around 16.6°C. The maximum temperature is hovering around 31.2°C .

Chennai

Northeast Monsoon also known as retreating monsoon keeps fluctuating and at present has shifted towards Sri Lanka. As a result, only extreme southern regions of Tamil Nadu have received spot rain in last few days. However, Skymet weather predicts revival of monsoon within next 24 hours.

Chennai has not received any rain in last 4 days with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 31°C and 24°C, respectively.
