The state of Karnataka is expected to see week long rains starting today, moderate with heavy spells as well. For North Interior Karnataka cities of Raichur, Bellary, Gadag, Shimoga etc will be seeing rains. Coastal Karnataka including Honavar, Karwar, Udupi, Mangaluru and adjoining areas will also be seeing good showers
Between October 16 and 17, rains will become light with a few moderate spells. Intensity of rains will increase again over south interior Karnataka around October 18 and 19 wherein cities of Bengaluru, Mandya, Chitradurga, Hasan, Chamrajnagar will be the ones seeing rains. Rains will however start vacating North Interior Karnataka by October 19.
Reason for these rains is a Cyclonic Circulation off Goa and Karnataka Coast in the Arabian Sea and is shifting away. Another system coming up over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil nadu Coast adjoining Gulf of Mannar. They will be affecting the weather in tandem wherein when one system moves away, the other one will start affecting.
