Western Himalayas and Northern plains gearing up for pre monsoon rain

The Western disturbance will gradually move over Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh leading to increase in rain activities over Western Himalayas. Back-to-back Western disturbances will have their impact over the Hills for at least next one week.

Rain and thunderstorm may start over plains of Northwest India from April 19. There may be widespread rain over Punjab and scattered over Haryana, northwest Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan between April 19 and 20. Delhi may also witness isolated rain and thunderstorm during this period. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop significantly over Punjab and parts of Haryana. There may be marginal drop over North Rajasthan, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh.

Weather will start clearing up from Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. However, the Northern districts of Punjab and Haryana may witness light scattered rain on April 21st as well.

Damage to crops is possible over parts of Punjab and Haryana due to rain and moderate surface winds. Western Himalayas may witness isolated heavy spells between April 18 and 19. Chances of mudslide and landslides cannot be ruled out. Tourists heading to hilly destination must take precautions.
