December 21, 2021 12:40 PM |

The state of Madhya Pradesh happens to be the coldest region in Central India. With the state sharing border with Uttar Pradesh on one side and Rajasthan on the other, cold weather conditions do make frequent appearances during the winter season for the largest state in Central India.

Icy cold winds have been blowing from the northern plains in view of the absence of any weather system over the Western Himalayas. These twins systems are also reaching Madhya Pradesh resulting in drop of the minimum temperatures throughout the state.

In fact, today, the minimum temperature has dropped below the 5 degree mark in many places resulting in coldwave conditions in some areas. Nowgong recorded a mere 1.3 degrees Celsius, Umaria 2.1 degrees, Gwalior 2.2 degrees, Khajuraho 2.4 degrees, Raisen 3.0 degrees, Mandla 3.1 degrees, Datia 4.3 degrees.

However, after 48 hours these cold wave conditions are expected to abate Madhya Pradesh as a fresh Western disturbance is expected to approach the Western Himalayas around December 22nd and along with this and other system will follow on December 24th. Therefore due to back to back systems, that is expected to be a change in when pattern which will result in rise of minimum temperatures. There may be a drop in the maximum temperatures during this time.
