Occurrences of rain are very sporadic at this time of the year over Maharashtra. When any significant weather system develops over Northeast Arabian Sea off Maharashtra Coast, it is then that the state receives some rains. Otherwise, January is considered one of the driest months for the state.

Right now, night temperatures over Vidarbha are settling below the normal levels by three to four degrees at many places. Meanwhile, both day and night temperatures of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa are ranging near the normal levels.

Along with this, isolated chunks of the state have also been experiencing cold wave conditions.

Dry and cold northeasterly winds are prevailing over many parts of Marathwada, North Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan. In consequence to this, temperatures are slightly low over the region.
