Winters in Delhi

The zing and bling of festivities are over and winter has yet not set? It’s the end of October, and the winter uniforms are still under the wraps. Wondering why? Till now winter chill has not been felt over most parts of the country.

Normally by this time, temperatures start dropping but this year the drop in temperature has been delayed due to the on and off formation of weather systems over eastern parts of the country as well as over North Bay of Bengal.

These weather systems obstructed the dry and cool northwesterly winds to blow over the northern plains. However, weather gods have finally become kind and from the past 48 hours, the normal pattern of cool northwesterly winds have started blowing which has resulted in a drop in minimum temperatures over many parts of northwest and central India.

Nip in the air is felt during early mornings and midnight. As per Skymet Weather, the minimum temperature of Churu is 30.6°C, Jammu 15°C, Betul and Malanjkhand in Madhya Pradesh has recorded 14°C and Damoh are 12.2°C.

The northerly winds have bow started to cover the northwestern plains and have reached up to Maharashtra and Telangana. Most parts of Northwest and Central India have recorded minimums between 15°C and 17°C. A significant drop in temperatures has been observed over these areas as well.

The minimum temperature of Parbhani has come down from 20°C to 14°C and Adilabad 21°C to 13°C in last 48 hours. With the reduction in temperatures and cool winds, winters are knocking the door, hence be ready to take out the woolens.
