With Delhi Rains absent, sultry conditions take over, maximums settle above normal

July 21, 2023 1:04 PM |

The national capital did see intense rains in between with temperatures remaining on the lower side. In fact, on July 3, Delhi saw the maximum at 38.4 degrees, after that the city did not cross 38 degrees Celsius.

However, maximums have once again started to increase and Delhi maximums touched 38.4 degrees yesterday once again. Such maximums have only been seen after a whopping 18 days gap. Maximums currently are settling 3 degrees above normal. It has only been twice when the national capital saw maximums above 38 degrees.

These maximums are due to the absence of rains. June had seen higher maximums but after the arrival of Monsoon, maximums remained slightly below normal until now.

With no rain in sight, such maximums will continue for the next 4 days or so. Only around July 25, can we expect rain to pick up. The reason for this is the Monsoon trough shifting away from the Delhi NCR's proximity.
