Britain on alert, heavy rains expected through the midweek

December 7, 2015 1:06 PM |

britainAfter a rather strong storm Desmond made its exit from the UK, the region will have to deal with more rain and wind this week. This is due to a strong low-pressure system that is expected to pass just northwest of the region on Wednesday.

Mostly the wet weather on Monday will be over Wales, Scotland and northern England where light showers and breezy conditions will be experienced. This weather is due to a cold front which will move across the British Isles on Tuesday. This will result in showers over eastern portions and light spells of rain over western Scotland to Wales and western England. The rainfall will increase across Scotland and northwest England during the middle of the week.

The rainfall totals over much of the region will not be more than 25 mm on Monday and Tuesday. However, the region of Scotland and northern England will experience good rains of more than 25 mm that too in a span of a few hours on Wednesday. Wind gusts of upto 80 kmph are expected during the middle of the week this might cause power outages and downed trees.
