Usually, the months of December and January are the end of seasonal weather activity. But recently, storm Kiatek and Tembin lashed the Philippines thereby killing a few. Though Kiatek fizzled out, Tembin became a typhoon before battering the country.

After striking the Philippines, Typhoon Tembin as a weaker system entered the South China Sea, gaining strength, thereby battering Malay Peninsula, Thailand, Indonesia thus keeping the weather activity on.

Further, Skymet Weather reiterates that another tropical depression is seen moving across the Philippines. This weather system is likely to gain strength near the South China Sea, heading for Vietnam and Thailand. It will be during this time, that Thailand may get battered by some moderate intensity showers.
