France Italy Rains 1

From East Spain to Italy, the entire coastal region of the three countries will face heavy rains as a slow-moving storm system is moving across the Mediterranean this week.

The continuous heavy downpour is most likely to increase the risk of flooding. The flood threat will be more on Wednesday and Thursday as the low pressure system will move across the northern Mediterranean.

This system will be giving a heavy rainfall from northeastern Spain into northern Italy. Areas from Montpellier to Marseille, Monaco, Genoa and Milan are prone to witness heavy rainfall; so chances of flooding are more over the area.

Parts of southern France and northwestern Italy this week is expected to get more than 100 mm of rainfall, which is way too much for the region. These heavy rainfall and flash flooding is most likely to result in travel delays across the region.

From Montpellier to Marseille and Nice heavy rain will occur on Wednesday night. But the heaviest rain will fall over northwestern Italy on Thursday over areas from Genoa to Milan in Italy in a very short span of 6-12 hours.

Downpours could reach Florence by the end of the day on Thursday while gusty thunderstorms and downpours are possible in Rome from late Thursday into Friday.
