October begins on a rainy note in Canada

September 28, 2016 4:33 PM |

Rain in OntarioThere is some potential for rainfall over the southern parts of Ontario during the second half of this week. However, as the high pressure region will build over eastern parts of Canada, bringing a drier and warmer weather pattern once again.

For the time being, the low pressure area will strengthen and move across the Ohio Valley, later this week. This weather system will draw moisture from the Southeast United States up to southern parts of Ontario. It will result in several rounds of rainfall beginning on Wednesday and continuing till Saturday.

The heaviest rainfall will be seen over extreme southern Ontario, especially over south and west of the regions stretching from Hamilton to London. We cannot rule out rainfall ranging from 15 to 35 mm. However, we do not expect any flooding due to the prevailing drought over the region.

Moist southeasterly winds will flow towards Alberta and the mountains of British Columbia on Saturday. The will result in a spell of soaking rainfall activity across the region. Localized areas could witness heavy showers as well.

This spell of rain is supposed to bring much needed relief as this part of Canada has been experiencing drought-like conditions for the last few months.
