Rains ahead for Dhaka, Bangladesh

The Well-Marked Low-Pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal has caused widespread moderate rainfall with strong gusty winds over many places in the country of Bangladesh. These rains were mainly concentrated over the Southeastern parts.

In the last 24 hours significant rainfall activity occurred over Chattogram which received 77mm, Rangamati 86 mm, Teknuf a whopping 291 mm, Cox’s Bazar 85 mm, Nikli 55 mm, Sandwip 73 mm, Hatiya 57 mm, Kutubdiya 97 mm, Patuakhali 53 mm, while the capital region of Dhaka received 24 mm rains. These areas have received heavy rainfall during last 24 hours.

Presently the system has weakened and lies over Gangetic West Bengal and Southwest of Bangladesh as a Low-Pressure Area. This weather system is expected to move further and weaken gradually.

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities will occur over Dhaka and adjoining areas with isolated moderate rain activities at a few places. Rainfall activity will then reduce after 12 hours.

After 24 hours, we expect mainly dry weather and drop in night temperatures over many parts of Bangladesh.

However, during the festival season of Durga pooja, most parts of Bangladesh will experience mainly dry weather.
