Severe heatwave is likely to loom over several parts of United Kingdom this week. Weather forecasters are predicting that the highest temperature can be recorded in Britain this week.
Warm air approaching from the Sahara desert will cause temperatures to increase to 93.2°F (34°C).
Due to this, the Met Office is likely to issue an official proclamation today advising older people of the upcoming vulnerabilities.
Also, Public Health England is expected to state a level 2 heat-health alert, prompting it once the Met Office guesses a 60 per cent or more chances of temperatures hitting 30°C for at least two days consecutively.
Authorities are trying to avert a repeat of 2003, when 2,000 more deaths than usual were witnessed in two weeks in August, as temperatures rose above 86°F (30°C).
As for now, the Met Office said that Sunday was the hottest day of the year at 82°F (28°C), but then new highs were expected on Monday and Tuesday.
The heatwave tracks a duller and colder June than usual. The West Midlands and the South East are anticipated to be the warmest areas of the UK.
Though, by Wednesday, the weather will settle and rainy showers will give an unexpected end to the heatwave, with cool conditions possibly towards the weekend.
