A low pressure area is currently churning in the Pacific and is expected to become a storm in the next 48 hours in the Deep Pacific. The system is likely to move towards Luzon and is currently about 2000 km away from Philippines. Also, Philippines will host the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games this week.
The weather system is expected to get into the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on November 27 and may move towards the North Luzon area. There are bright chances that the system may become the 20th storm in the year 2019, as per mentioned by the PAGASA.
However, the potential storm is still away from Philippines for the meteorologists to even figure out the potential effect of the storm. The Southeast Asian Games (SEA) are a biennial event, starting Saturday and are scheduled in 56 venues for 56 sport events in Metro Manila and other provinces of Luzon including Laguna, Tarlac, Cavite.
Due to the easterly winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, isolated light rains may be seen over Bicol Region along with Quezon and Aurora provinces. Localized thunderstorms may even result in landslides over Metro Manila and adjoining areas. Last week itself, Storm Sarah had resulted in heavy rains over many parts.
East Asian countries including Philippines and Japan are Rim Pacific countries which come under the attack of these Typhoons. Many of the storms head east to west, and some of them recurve. When storms recurve, Korea, Taiwan and China come under the radar, and when storms follow course, then Philippines become the target.
