Heavy rains lashed parts of Australia particularly in the Northern Territory. Heavy downpour occurred that led to the rainfall records to topple.

Parts of the Top End which is the northernmost region encompassing the Australian continent has witnessed extremely heavy showers in last 24 hours. The Top End contains both the territory cities along with one of the major Town includes Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine.

As per the weatherman, heavy rains have slammed the Northern Territory bringing heavy pouring over the Top End. Most of the districts have even beaten their monthly records as well wherein, most of these records have stood up for something like decades.

As per the 24 hours report as on 09:00 am this morning, Katherine recorded a whopping rainfall of 104.6 mm. This broke the September monthly record of 90.9 mm which was recorded in the year 1895.

Similarly, Mainoru Station observed 168.2 mm of sharp showers in a span of 24 hours from 09:00 am as on morning. This is considered to be the third highest single day rainfall ever observed in the month of September over the Northern Territory.

Torrential rains have even bashed the southern region of the Northern Territory wherein, 23.4 mm of showers were witnessed by Alice Springs as against the monthly average of mere 8.1 mm wet spells.

Furthermore, meteorologists are curious about the expected weather that would prevail over the region. However, wet season is particularly dependent on the La Nina weather pattern. Moreover, as of now, the weather is not signaling any robust La Nina pattern. Hence, this is just an average rainy season which was forecasted.
