Tropical Storm Selma made landfall on El Salvador's coast on Saturday and produced strong winds, heavy rains, and perilous ocean waves, while Tropical Storm Philippe formed in the Caribbean and was expected to produce heavy rains across South Florida and the Keys after soaking Cuba.

Selma hit El Salvador's coast in the morning before losing strength over land, weakening to a tropical depression with maximum persistent winds of 55 km/h, as reported by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.

Although the center of Phillipe has now moved across the Florida Keys or extreme south of Florida, most of the strongest winds are still blowing over south and southeast of the center. It was a depression which was sopping parts of western Cuba and resulted into Tropical Storm Phillipe.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm force winds may prevail and will result in torrential rains across the upper Florida Keys and southeast Florida.

The primary threat from this system will result in heavy rains that can cause flooding across portions of Cuba, the Florida Keys, and South Florida.

As said by The National Hurricane Center on Saturday evening, the storm is moving in a northwards direction at 47 km/h. Also, it is expected to turn northeastwards by early Sunday and gain more strength.

Moreover, it is anticipated that the center of Storm Philippe will move off the northern coast of Cuba and into the Straits of Florida on Saturday, and move across the Florida Keys or the southern tip of the Florida peninsula by overnight.

Storm Philippe's maximum unrelenting winds are near 64 km/h with higher gusts. The storm is located 193 km south-southwest of the Florida Keys.

In addition, the storm's center was located about 75 km East of San Salvador, and it was heading towards northeast direction at 13 km/h.

Moreover, rains were strong and intense which triggered flash floods in several places of El Salvador, southern Guatemala, and southern Honduras but these conditions also dispersed by overnight.

Due to these weather activities, Salvadoran authorities reported some destruction, including landslides, trees that tumbled onto roads and rivers frightening to top their banks.
