Temperature in Delhi to drop

November 2, 2013 2:15 PM |

Diwali is almost here but the winter chill is yet to be felt in Delhi, which in the last few days has been witnessing minimums settling between 16-17 degrees on an average. Usually at this point of time the minimums in the capital dip below 15 degrees making the weather fairly cold.

However, this scenario may change from tomorrow onwards when dry north westerly winds coming from Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh-that received good snowfall and rain yesterday- begin to affect the northern plains including Delhi.

The weather system will pull down minimum temperatures in Delhi by 2-3 degrees. This trend is expected to continue for 3-4 days after which a slight change may again be witnessed in the minimum temperatures. Maximums on the other hand will not witness any significant change and will hover around a comfortable level of 30 degrees.

Diwali morning temperature is expected to record 15 degrees. The low temperature during Diwali day will add to the poor visibility in the city the next morning as it will not allow the pollutants created by burning crackers to escape quickly into the atmosphere, creating a situation of smog.
