Rain in Jharkhand

The weather conditions of both the states, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have had a disastrous month of August as far as Monsoon downpours are considered. To such an extent that these areas saw massive flooding. Since then, moderate to heavy rains have taken a back seat over these two states.

Despite the fact that subsequent to staying dry for 3-4 days, the last 24 hours have remained rainy for Odisha and Bihar. While some places over Jharkhand enjoyed a break and were switched by light spells of rain, later.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Cuttack recorded heavy rainfall of 106 mm, Bhubaneswar 64.2 mm, Chandbali 17.5 mm, Bhagalpur 10 mm, Gopalpur 9.2 mm, Angul 8.2 mm, Jamshedpur 8.1 mm, Jharsuguda 8 mm, Balasore 6.6 mm, Purnea 5.5 mm, Dhenkanal 5 mm and Chaibasa 1.1 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen lying over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining parts of Jharkhand. Further, this weather system is likely to move westwards gradually. Also, an upper air trough is seen extending from Bihar up to Andhra Pradesh across the above-mentioned weather system.

Due to this weather system, moderate rains and thundershower activities are likely to occur in many places over South Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha during the next 24 to 36 hours.
