Monsoon Forecast for Aug 9, 2018: Rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha

The axis of monsoon trough is presently passing through Anupgarh, Churu, Gwalior, Siddhi, Daltonganj, center of the depression and further towards East central Bay of Bengal.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.

Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Assam, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Major rainfall contribution came from Valparai in Tamil Nadu that recorded 98 mm of rain, followed by Agumbe and Jabalpur 92 mm and Jharsuguda 90 mm.

As of August 7, the countrywide cumulative rainfall continues to be deficient by 10%. At present, all the divisions of India are rainfall deficient. East & Northeast India is the highest rain deficient pocket by 26%. Meanwhile, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 4%, 5% and 4%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, active Monsoon conditions will prevail over central parts of the country. South Chhattisgarh, parts of Vidarbha, parts of Madhya Pradesh would see light to moderate rains along with few heavy spells.

Similar rainfall activity would be seen over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Meanwhile, normal Monsoon rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, rest Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa and parts of Telangana.

On the other hand, Monsoon will remain subdued over the rest of the country.
