Monsoon Forecast for Jul 12, 2017: Monsoon rains in Delhi, Punjab, WB, UP, Uttarakhand

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Assam, East Uttar Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand.

Active Monsoon conditions were seen over rest of northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Coastal Karnataka.

Subdued Monsoon rains were observed over Northwest India, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.

Major contribution came from Goalpara that recorded 100 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, followed by Fursatganj at 99 mm and Bahraich at 76 mm.

As on July 10, the cumulative countrywide rainfall deficiency has dropped to 1%. Presently, Northwest India is rain surplus by 29%. Central India is deficient by 8% While South and East and Northeast India are deficient by 8% and 5%, respectively.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Sonipat and Shimla up to Jammu.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon will remain active over East Uttar Pradesh and Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

Live status of Lightning and thunderlightning-in-bengaluru

Light to moderate rains may occur over Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka along with Gangetic West Bengal. Meanwhile, light rains are possible over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra and Interior Karnataka.
