March began on a rainy note and will also end on a similar note. Multiple weather systems once again brought widespread rain across the country over the gone-by weekend.

The last 24 hours witnessed light but widespread rain in all the threes hilly states of North India, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, parts of Maharashtra and other parts of the peninsula. But, Andhra Pradesh remained hot and dry.
Jammu and Kashmir has broken all records this March. Over the past 2 days, Srinagar received 95 mm of rain. On Sunday, Jammu received 98 mm and Katra 139 mm of rain.

The state is battling the flood situation since Monday morning.
Several people are feared to be dead as three houses collapsed due to landslide in Budgam district. Around 60 people are expected to be trapped under the debris.

Palam in Delhi recorded 20.6 mm of rain in last 24 hours. The national capital seems to be setting new records every day.
Other parts of the northern plains have also witnessed a wet spell. On Sunday, Amritsar received 4 mm of rain, Chandigarh 11.2 mm, Patiala 6 and Hisar 7 mm of rain.

The Central government is most likely to raise the compensation limit for farmers affected by unusual rains and hailstorms in around 14 states of the country.

Very light rain was observed in Jaipur and Ahmedabad. Parts of Central India also witnessed a rainy weekend.
A little respite is now likely for North and Central parts. The rain belt is shifting towards East and Northeast India. Therefore, widespread rain is the forecast for Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and the Northeastern states at least for next 2 days.
