Cold Wave conditions are likely to continue over hilly states of North India. This cold weather will extend up to the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. No active Western Disturbance will affect the region for the next couple of days. Accordingly, temperatures will maintain levels.
We could see some shallow fog across North India on Thursday morning.
East India will see dense fog but will otherwise remain dry. Northeast India will witness shallow fog only.
There is a cyclonic circulation over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining West Bengal region. We can also see a trough extending from this system. This could bring some light to moderate showers over entire Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Some parts of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh could also receive some rainfall. In fact, this region will continue to be affected by rains for the next 2 days.
Northeast Monsoon rains will be confined to Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. There is a cyclonic circulation sitting over Northern parts of Karnataka, which will be responsible for these showers. Coastal parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai will also receive some rainfall on Thursday.
Single digit minimums will prevail over entire North India. Temperatures will remain below 5°C in several cities including Amritsar, Pathankot, Hisar, Narnaul and Churu. Morning minimum will settle between 5 and 6 °C in Delhi.
Cold weather conditions will extend up to Gujarat as well. Here cities like Bhuj and Naliya could record minimums around 4°C. In Central parts of the country, good sunshine likely in the afternoon hours. Few places like Khajuraho and Umaria could see minimums below 5°C.
