December 2, 2015 5:10 PM |

The cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal seems to be a slow moving system, bringing a prolonged wet spell over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. This system has caused widespread flooding in Chennai and adjoining areas.

On Thursday, we can expect the intensity of rainfall to reduce over Chennai and north Tamil Nadu. The spell of heavy showers will shift southwards. Gradually intensity of rainfall will gain strength over south coastal parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isolated places could receive heavy showers as well.

Rest of Peninsular India including Rayalseema, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will receive light to moderate showers. In fact, the wet spell will last till December 6 in Peninsular India. Dark overcast skies will continue to bring intermittent rains for the next few days.

The cyclonic circulation lying over eastern parts of Bihar will bring some light rain over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeast India on Thursday.

The plains of North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Rajasthan will remain dry. Northwesterly winds blowing over the region will lead to slight drop in temperatures.
