February 16, 2016 7:10 PM |

After a long wait, Delhi-NCR could finally receive some winter rains over the coming weekend. Welcome back to Skymet Weather report with Payal Chatterjee.

The Western Disturbance is now moving away. During the next 24 hours, it will bring only light rain and snow over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.

The feeble cyclonic circulation over Punjab and Haryana will not bring any weather activity over the region for now. It will only lead to marginal rise in temperatures over the next 2 days.

The cyclonic circulation over Gujarat persists. But, people here will have to wait for another 2 days to receive some rainfall. The system has already influenced the wind pattern leading to rise in night temperatures.

The confluence zone has shifted to Madhya Pradesh and adjoining South Rajasthan region. These areas will continue to receive some rains for the next 2 days. This spell of rain will extend up to Delhi-NCR by Friday.

East and Northeast India will remain mainly clear and dry tomorrow.

The low pressure area remains over South Bay of Bengal. It shows no signs of intensification but will definitely bring some rainfall by tomorrow or day after. Initially, extreme south coastal Tamil Nadu will come under the purview of the system. Gradually, it will bring rain and thundershowers over South Interior Karnataka and Kerala.

The trough extending from the feeble cyclonic circulation will bring some very light rainfall over Kerala and South Coastal Karnataka.

Temperatures will remain above normal levels in the plains of North India. Minimums will also be mostly above normal.

Minimums in Delhi-NCR, Amritsar, Patiala, Hisar, Lucknow and most parts of the plains in Northwest India will settle above 10°C. Maximums will settle between 25 and 30°C.

Maximum in Mumbai and Bangalore will be 31°C.

Hyderabad will be the warmest with maximum at 34°C.
