Weather Forecast Sept 15: Heavy rains over Lucknow, Rai Bareilly, Prayagaraj, Champaran, with light over Kolkata and nearly dry over Delhi

The Low-Pressure Area has marginally shifted towards North and lies over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh. The Axis of Monsoon Trough passes through North Rajasthan across Low-Pressure Area, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North West Bengal towards Arunachal Pradesh. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation is over East Assam and adjoining Arunachal Pradesh.

Now let us start with the eastern parts of the country, wherein the combined effects of the mentioned systems will give enhanced rains over Bihar and Northern parts of West Bengal. Moderate rains with isolated heavy spells and isolated moderate lightning can occur over parts of Bihar, Northeast Jharkhand, Northwest Bay of Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya including parts of Nagaland.

While light to moderate rain activity can be seen over South Bengal, Jharkhand and scattered places of Odisha. Rest of Northeast states will receive light to moderate rains. Heading to central India, wherein the Low-Pressure has shifted further North and the Cyclonic Circulation over Kutch and adjoining areas has become insignificant. Thus, the rainfall activity is likely to decrease majorly over Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. While North Madhya Pradesh will see moderate rains with isolated heavy spells.

The rest parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and most parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra will receive scattered light rains. Whereas the southern parts of coastal Gujarat including Konkan and Goa may receive scattered moderate rains. Down South, the rains will reduce over most parts of Coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu since no significant system is available. Therefore, scattered light rains with isolated moderate spells is possible over North Telangana, North Andhra Pradesh, Interior parts of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Finally up in the North, rainfall activity is now likely to reduce from Southeast Rajasthan. The extreme east and North Rajasthan may receive few moderate spells. East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining central Uttar Pradesh may also see moderate spells at many places with isolated heavy. While mainly dry weather is expected over Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Chances of patchy rain is possible over these areas.

Whereas Uttarakhand and adjoining Himachal Pradesh may receive scattered light rains with moderate spells over isolated pockets. Jammu and Kashmir will be mainly dry.
