Active Monsoon to bring more rains for Madhya Pradesh

August 29, 2018 6:37 PM |

Madhya Pradesh POST

Heavy rains continued to lash parts of Madhya Pradesh, triggering flood like situation at few areas. According to Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy rains with few extremely heavy rains have been lashing several parts of the state since last two to three days.
In fact, there has been no let up in the rain on Wednesday as well. Indore has recorded 59 mm of rain in span of six hours from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

The intensity of rain was more over East Madhya Pradesh as compared to West Madhya Pradesh. This was due to the cyclonic circulation prevailing over Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgah. This system has also pull down the Monsoon trough which is running in close vicinity of the state.

However, distribution has been fairly equal today, with rains covering most parts of Madhya Pradesh. Rains are likely to start reducing Thursday onwards, but presence of enough moisture in the atmosphere would continue to give moderate rainfall with few heavy spells for the next two days.

These ongoing Monsoon rains have reduced the cumulative rain deficiency for East Madhya Pradesh from 14% to 10% as on August 29. Meanwhile, less rains have led to increase in rainfall deficiency for West Madhya Pradesh from 2% to 4%.
