Ahmedabad receives heavy Monsoon rains yet again, August gets rainierSouthwest Monsoon has been a little too kind for Ahmedabad during the month of August. So much so that it has been bringing heavy Monsoon rains over the city for the past 48 hours. While residents should heave a sigh of relief as heavy rains have been blessing the city, these showers have only increased several woes.

As per Skymet Weather, on and off rains are likely to continue over Ahmedabad during the next 24 hours. However, the rainfall intensity will reduce over the city to quite an extent and Monsoon rains will not be as heavy.

During the last 21 hours between 8:30 am and 5:30 am, Ahmedabad recorded a whopping 52 mm of rainfall. A day before the city had received 43 mm of rainfall. Due to these rains many areas in the cities were waterlogged.

As per reports, even roofs of buildings collapsed in some areas. Traffic woes were an added problem as several office goers were stuck in traffic for many hours during the evening hours.

These rains can be attributed to the trough extending from the cyclonic circulation which is currently stationed at North Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Also, the feeble off shore trough along Coastal Gujarat has been increasing moisture incursion over Ahmedabad resulting in cloud formation.

So far Ahmedabad has recorded 238.8 mm of rainfall against its monthly average of 266.2 mm of rain. The performance of Monsoon has increased manifold this August as compared to the last one. The city had recorded a mere 19.1 mm of rainfall in the entire month of August 2015.
