Approaching long weekend: The best time to visit Shimla, Manali, Srinagar, Nainital

Hills of Western Himalayas received fairly widespread snowfall activities in the beginning of the month on November 1 and 3. Another spell of snowfall activities occurred over hills between November 13 and 15. Since then, the weather of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is almost dry. Some occasional light rains occurred over the parts of Jammu and Kashmir, but their intensity was very less.

Now, another fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir due to which we expect scattered rain and isolated snowfall activities over the state and in a few parts over Himachal Pradesh. Uttarakhand may also receive light rain at one or two places during this period. This Western Disturbance is not very active and will move away eastwards by November 23.

It’s anything but good news for travelers planning to visit hills in this much awaited long weekend, as the coming holidays between November 23 and 25 will be ideal to visit the hill stations of the trio-states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand. Weather is expected to remain dry throughout this period. Days will be cool and comfortable. However, as expected, nights will remain very cold. Therefore, do not forget to carry your woolens around as the weather on hilltops is entirely different from plains right now.

But what about the people anticipating witnessing snowfall this winter? The weather will not disappoint them as well as one another active Western Disturbance will approach Jammu and Kashmir around November 9. This weather system will bring along snowfall at many places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and over isolated places in Uttarakhand. A little bit of wait might bring about just the moment they ever wanted to witness!
