April Starts On Rainy Note For Bengaluru, More Showers On The Weekend And Next Week

Though these showers were rather heavy in parts of the city, including the airport, which suspended air operations for a few hours. The number of flights got diverted and rescheduled as well. However, the temperatures remained at par with the average mark and touched 35°C on two days during the month. It was a rather comforting month in comparison to harsh March 2024.
Pre-monsoon activity has now picked up for the city and suburbs. The capital city witnessed an intense spell of rain and thundershowers yesterday afternoon. The city observatory recorded 4 mm of rainfall and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) observatory measured 39mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. A prolonged spell of pre-monsoon showers is likely on the weekend, with a spillover to next week.
Courtesy, cyclonic circulation over North Karnataka and the active Peninsular India north-south trough, South India will have the first typical pre-monsoon activity, simultaneously covering the entire region for days together. Rain and thundershowers will be fairly widespread for nearly one week over Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The spread and intensity will vary, with the western half of peninsular India being more favored than the rest. South Interior Karnataka, hosting Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar, Tumkur, Hassan and Chamarajanagar, will run the risk of having moderate to heavy thundershowers on one or two days during this period.
For the city of Bengaluru, balancing the soaring temperatures, so far, pleasant weather conditions are expected over the next one week. The day temperature is unlikely to reach 35°C and hover around 30°-31°C. Most of the weather activity will take place in the late afternoon and evening. Nights are likely to be fairly cool with mercury staying close to 20°C. Heat wave conditions are least expected for the city and suburbs during the first half of April.
