In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Tezpur recorded light rain to the tune of 2 mm and Pet Jorhat saw 0.2 mm rainfall. In the similar time frame, North Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Pasighat recorded traces of rain.

As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation which was persisting over the eastern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining areas increased moisture over the northern parts of Northeast India including several districts of Nagaland, East Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.

In fact, the successive Western Disturbances which were travelling along the foothills towards Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, were also responsible for the on and off rainfall activity.

Now, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to continue over many parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh until February 9. Thereafter, the intensity of rains would decrease significantly. But isolated pockets of Arunachal Pradesh may receive light rains on February 10 also.

In fact, isolated pockets of Nagaland adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh might record light rain in these next two days. Thereafter, the weather will once again go dry over entire Northeastern states around February 10.
