Northeast India remained rain deficient in the month of June despite being one of the rainiest pockets during the Monsoon season. In fact, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura region saw quite a high deficiency.
However, during the last two days, it did rain well enough over the entire northeastern region of the country. In fact, moderate to heavy rains have been seen over the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Assam.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Dhubri recorded 49 mm of rains, North Lakhimpur 27.2 mm, Tinsukia 13 mm and Tezpur 12 mm.
In fact, flood situation has worsened over the state of Assam. The state of Assam has already been reeling under floods for quite some time now.
These rains have occurred on account of shifting of the Monsoon trough over the foothills over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh region.
Brahmaputra river has already been flowing above the danger mark and with rains in the offing, the situation in Assam as far as the floods are concerned will remain the same and in fact even worsen in the coming days.
Northeast has a number of rivers originating from the Himalayas and all of them going into the Brahmaputra. Moreover, in such situations, the entire stretch of Brahmaputra gets flooded. The situation in Assam is expected to remain the same for the next three days and relief is only likely when a cyclonic circulation develops in the Bay of Bengal around July 5.
