The state of Karnataka including garden city, Bengaluru has been recording hefty showers for the past few days. In fact, it was due to these rainy spells that the city also surpassed its monthly average of 18.5 mm of rains. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Bengaluru recorded rains to the tune of 38.4 mm. In same time frame, Chitradurga recorded moderate rain to the tune of 13 mm and Mysuru witnessed light spells of 5.2 mm.

In fact, as per Skymet Weather, the rain show is likely to continue over Bengaluru and the city is likely to witness light to moderate pre-Monsoon showers for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of these rains would reduce over the city. Moreover, thick clouding is also anticipated to prevail in many parts of Bengaluru.

As per Skymet Weather, an anti-cyclonic feature over Southwest Bay of Bengal brought moisture feed over to the region. In fact, a trough which was extending across Karnataka was also responsible for these showers. However, this trough has now become less marked.
Although another trough has developed from South Tamil Nadu to Odisha which is already moving close to Karnataka region and is likely to extend further in the interior parts.
As per weathermen, the intensity of rain will reduce over the state. However, the southern extreme parts of the state such as Mysuru and Madikeri would continue to record light to moderate showers as they would be in close proximity with this weather system.
Meanwhile, the stations of North Karnataka are likely to record scattered light rains only. The weather during the day would remain comfortable with southeasterly moderate winds blowing across the region. In fact, a drop in the day temperatures is also expected.
