Standalone_HEAT-nationLast week, the capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneswar almost touched 40 degree Celsius, making a heat wave like condition in Odisha. And it seems that the hot conditions aren’t over yet. Over the past few days Odisha is experiencing a hot conditions and high temperature, especially around the weekend.

The temperatures of Bhubaneswar soared to a maximum of 40.9 degree Celsius, making it the highest of 10 years. It is now the hottest place in India right now which is not usual for this place.

Bhubaneswar’s temperature did reach in 40s three times in the last 10 years but the mark of 40.9 was the maximum this year. City witnessed 40.1 degree Celsius in 2006 and 2012 and 40.4 degree Celsius in 2009. Such temperatures are not very common in the city.

The state is experiencing such high temperatures because of anti-cyclonic circulation over the coastal area of the state. The coastal area has been experiencing high discomfort. The days are hot, the temperatures soar in the high 30s and the night experience mid-20s temperature. Such temperatures are enough to incite discomfort among the general populous.

But despite the hot spell, Skymet Weather Services predicts that somewhere around 24th and 26th of this month, rains may bring some comfort for a short period of time in the region. The reason for rainfall is expected to be the slight shift in the anti-cyclonic circulation over the region. The East West trough running over the western part of Odisha along the Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand region will make the possibility of rain more solid.

The northern part of the state will receive the maximum rainfall with light scattered rain overall Odisha.
