Sparing a few days that were a lull period for the capital of Tamil Nadu, otherwise, Chennai rains have been keeping its residents in a joyful mode.

Though being situated in the coastal region, the weather has remained slightly humid with temperatures remaining under the 35-degree mark. The last day also got light spells with it for the city which is also termed as ‘Gateway to South India’. The reason for these showers as per Skymet Weather can be attributed to a trough which was over coastal Tamil Nadu. In the wake of this, Chennai recorded good rains.

However, now, this trough has become less marked and due to the absence of any significant weather system prevailing over the region, dry weather is expected to prevail over Chennai for the next 2-3 days.

On account of this, the mercury levels will shoot up and the weather will turn warm and humid leading to an increase in the discomfort level.

The monthly average rainfall for the city stands at 147.7 mm and till date, the city has recorded 101.8 mm of rains. However, with predictions of dry weather now, it is worth waiting if the city will be able to surpass its monthly mean or not.
