Cyclone Kyarr moving away from Karnataka coast but strong winds and occasional showers along coastal stations expected

October 26, 2019 5:19 PM |

Karnataka rain The Cyclonic storm Kyarr has turned in a west-northwest direction moving away from the Indian coast. However, the coastal areas of Karnataka will still observe strong winds of 30-40 kmph gusting at 60 kmph. There are chances of high waves as well in the region.

Chances of rain will, however, be minimal due to the system moving away. But, a Trough is likely to form out of the cyclonic circulation lying over southwest Bay of Bengal. When this weather system forms in the next 24-48 hours, the rainfall activity is going to enhance over south Karnataka like Bangaluru, Mysore, Shimoga and Chamrajnagar.

Rainfall activity in the rest part of the state will be patchy and light. Thundershower activity can also be witnessed at some places during the next two days. Largely speaking, the weather is going to be comfortable.

Karnataka during the Northeast Monsoon season so far has received 250 mm of rain against the October average of 117 mm. Since the onset of the Northeast Monsoon, the entire southern peninsula has been receiving good rains. Heavy rain has also been observed in several places. Tamil Nadu is the major state to benefit from the Northeast Monsoon as Southwest Monsoon gives very minimal rains in the state.
