Thunderstorm in India

Rain, thunderstorm and ferocious winds were a highlight yesterday over many states in India. In fact, hailstorm was also seen in some areas with Rajasthan covered with white sheets of hail. However, the bad news is that in the four states inclusive of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, several people lost their lives.

At least 11 people have been reported to have been killed in seven districts of Madhya Pradesh. Houses of mud structures in villages were also destroyed due to the intense weather activities observed yesterday.

The state of Gujarat had at least nine people being killed, namely four in the region of Mehsana, two in Banaskantha, while a life was lost in each of Morbi, Rajkot as well as Sabarkantha. Crop damage has also been witnessed at its worst.

Intense weather claimed at least seven lives in Maharashtra in the past couple of days. While lightning killed 2 in Parbhani and Satana; Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar had one life lost each.

Western parts of Rajasthan which suffered intense damage saw seven deaths. Hailstorm in many pockets have not just affected crops, but also destroyed houses made of mud. 300 villages have been affected in view of these weather activities. Areas of Baran, Sri Ganganagar, Kota, Alwar, Ajmer, Chaksu, and Udaipur have been the worst affected.

Now, these rains will take a backseat as the systems which were affecting the region will move away from almost all parts.
