A fresh Western Disturbance is affecting weather in North India, in terms of clouding in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana. Delhi might also witness an overcast sky as the day progresses.
After two days of respite, dense fog in Delhi makes a comeback. Rail and road traffic was crippled with flyers being the worst affected as 19 flights were delayed till 7.30 a.m. General visibility was nil at the Palam airport from 11 p.m on Friday night to 3 a.m in the morning. Even the runway visual range (RVR) reduced to 50 meters for almost 2 hours. Minimum temperature recorded at 7 in the morning was 10 °C, when the visibility improved to 100 meters and RVR was 500 meters.
Fog in India
Today morning, dense to very dense fog was reported at few places in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Northeast India. The visibility was nil in Amritsar and Gwalior. Agra, Lucknow and Agartala reported the lowest visibility of 50 meters. Chandigarh, Bhopal and Siliguri were a shade better with 100 meters of visibility. Jaipur, the main diversion for the flights in Delhi, reported the lowest visibility of 800 meters on Saturday morning.
In the last 24 hours, rain was minimal across the country with the highest rainfall of 21 mm recorded at Thiruvananthapuram. As predicted earlier, Madhya Prdesh received some light rain with Satna and Jabalpur recording 1 mm of rain each. Maharashtra, Aurangabad and Pune received 10 mm and 0.1 mm of rain, respectively.
