Depression in Bay to give good rains over North Telangana

Since last many days, the state of Telangana hasn’t received any significant rainfall activity in terms of moderate or heavy showers in any areas. Looking at the figures for the last 24 hours, the areas of Hanamkonda, Nizamabad Ramagundam didn’t receive any rain except Hyderabad which observed a meagre record of 3.2 mm. Inspite of the present weather conditions, Telangana is still rain surplus by 6% as of now.

Telangana receives rain activities mainly due to the weather systems that develop over West-central or North Bay of Bengal. These low-pressure areas or cyclonic circulations normally move in westerly directions and affect Telangana.

Most northern districts of the state usually receive good rains in comparison to the southern parts. For example, places like Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Rangareddy, Medak and Warangal receive good rains whereas southern districts such as Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar receive less rainfall.

Presently a deep depression has formed over North Bay of Bengal which will move in the northwest direction and will affect northwest districts of Telangana. Due to this, we expect moderate to heavy rains in northern districts of Telangana.

Meanwhile, the southern districts may receive light rains only. These good rains may further increase the rain surplus of the state. Rains will once again reduce by September on the entire state and weather may become dry.
