Most parts of the state of Madhya Pradesh have been witnessing good showers for the past few days. In fact, a day before a city or two also witnessed three digit rains. Due to this, temperatures have also witnessed a drop over many parts of the state.
One after another low pressure areas travelled across southern parts of Madhya Pradesh which have resulted in these heavy to very heavy rains in isolated pockets. However, northern parts of the state received scattered light showers on occasional basis only.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Ratlam and Damoh which has added to the rainfall activities. But, soon, the axis will shift northwards towards foothills of Himalayas. Thus, weather of most parts of Madhya Pradesh will become dry.

The last 24 hours have been less rainy for the state as compared to the day before. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Seoni recorded 16 mm of rain, Bhopal 12 mm, Ujjain 21 mm, Hoshangabad 8 mm, Datia 7 mm and Gwalior 6 mm.
This dry spell will continue for at least four to five days. Rains will make a comeback during the second week of September only.
Both the regions of East and West Madhya Pradesh are running rain deficient. While West Madhya Pradesh is rain deficient by 16 percent and East Madhya Pradesh is recording a rainfall deficiency of 23 percent. Due to the upcoming dry spell rainfall deficiency may further witness an increase.
