Whenever there is a dust storm activity over Rajasthan, since the area is arid, the dust gets picked up due to strong westerlies and is also carried away to other parts of Northwest India. Similarly, strong winds along with dust storms and rains over Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Phalodi were observed yesterday, which has resulted in sky-obscured conditions over many parts of Northwest India.
Temperatures were about 40-44 degrees, which were conducive for such activities. Since last night, the dust in suspension has been there over Delhi NCR and other parts of Northwest India.
In view of the dust storm and thunderstorm activity likely over Northwest India, there may be the settling down of the dust suspension. The upcoming activity will not change the temperature profile, light rain, thunderstorm and thundetrshowers may give relief from the obscured conditions but will take 48 hours.
