The first pre-Monsoon activity was seen in Delhi and neighboring areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad on March 30. Another spell of dust storm and thundershowers with isolated hailstorms were a sight over Delhi-NCR on April 7, which was fairly widespread one.
Now, the national capital is gearing for another round of pre-Monsoon weather activities. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance would start affecting Jammu and Kashmir by tomorrow morning, i.e. April 10. This would induce a Cyclonic Circulation over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Also, a trough from this system would extend till south of Delhi.
Presence of all these weather systems would lead to conducive weather conditions for rains accompanied with dust storm and thunderstorm in Delhi and NCR on April 10 and 11.
These weather activities will be prevalent during late afternoon or evening hours. Isolated dust storm and thundershowers would be also possibility during this period. As per the experts, the intensity of these activities would not be severe because the temperatures have not touched 40°C or above.
For intense dust storm and thunderstorm activities to occur, temperatures should be in lower 40s to mid 40s which at present is not the case. Another spell of dust storm and thundershower activity will affect Delhi by April 16. During that time, mercury is expected to reach lower 40s. Also, the intensity of activities will be much more then in comparison to the strength of present activities.
These intermittent pre-Monsoon activities would continue till the month of May and intensity will keep rising with rise in temperatures before the onset of Monsoon in Delhi.
