Rain in Uttar Pradesh

After lashing parts of Northwest India on Monday night, the much talked about dust storm and thunderstorms took a break on Tuesday morning.

Isolated parts of Uttar Pradesh observed isolated pre-Monsoon activities accompanied with rain and lightning strikes. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Meerut recorded some traces of rains, while Sultanpur witnessed 0.4 mm of light rains.

This spell was due to the cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas, induced by the Western Disturbance which is over Western Himalayas.

Hence, places such as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahar, Hapur, and Moradabad are most likely to witness these weather events. But as the trend goes, these activities would occur during the later evening or night hours.

Thereafter, as the cyclonic circulation has weakened, we do not expect any vigorous dust storm or thunderstorm activity to reoccur over Northwest India, including over Uttar Pradesh. However, isolated places may receive thunderstorm activities along with moderate winds. Although the blustery winds may occur, but there is no need of much alarm and dread.

Moreover, these thunder and dust storm activities are expected to last for a shorter duration and hence would not cause much destruction as it is being rumored.
