Summers are going to be hard hitting in India, claims the weathermen. The glimpse of scorching summer heat has already been witnessed by the states of north India that are reeling under dry and warm weather conditions.

Rajasthan is witnessing dry and sultry weather conditions for a long time now. Due to this, the mercury level is also shooting a few notches above the normal and settling near 35°C in most parts.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Rajasthan in the lower levels. Thus, the desert state is expected to witness a short spell of a dust storm and thunderstorm activity today. The sandstorm activity is likely to take place today during late afternoon or evening.

The threat of sandstorm is likely to continue until tomorrow morning. Squally winds may affect a few pockets of the state. Regions like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Nagaur, Alwar and Dausa are most likely to get affected by the spell of the dust storm.

The weathermen at Skymet Weather reiterates that dust storms or sandstorms are a meteorological phenomenon that occurs due to the strong winds passing over the loosely soil or sand. As these winds are strong in nature, they pick up the sand particles thereby leading the visibility across the region to drop.

Rajasthan being a desert state is more frequent to witness the dust storms or sandstorms. These sandstorms are also a threat to property and human life.

When the temperatures are high and humidity increases, cumulonimbus clouds, which are vertically developed clouds, develop. During the pre-Monsoon season, these clouds are capable of causing dust storm and thunderstorm activity.
