August 30, 2013 2:36 PM |

As the monsoon season is heading towards the withdrawal phase, rain activity is gradually decreasing in North and North West India. Plains will be mainly dry except for western Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Punjab and Haryana. The temperature is expected to rise by 1 to 2 degrees in many parts of the North West plains.

In the eastern parts, sub Himalayan West Bengal, north Bihar and Jharkhand will receive moderate rain in next 24 hours. However, temperatures over Jharkhand and West Bengal may see a temporary rise, but drop marginally in Bihar.

Meanwhile, moderate rain is also expected over northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Central India will witness a temporary relief from heavy rains. Intensity of rain will decrease and temperatures will remain near normal over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Light scattered rainfall is expected over the area.  On the other hand, Orissa and Vidharbha will see a marginal rise in the mercury.

Mercury will be stable over the southern parts of the country. After a long and dry spell Telangana to south Kerala will be blessed with light showers.
