Snowfall in Jammu & KashmirA fresh Western Disturbance is expected to hit parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir in the next 48 hours, causing widespread snow and rainfall in some of the areas. Isolated places may also receive heavy snowfall. This is the best time for tourists to visit popular hill stations including Gulmarg and Pahalgam.

After many days of dry weather in Himachal Pradesh, fairly widespread snowfall along with rain in some parts of the state is also expected. Spiti, Chamba, Lahul and Keylong are expected to observe snowfall. A dip in the maximums as well as minimums is expected in the aforementioned regions.

Western Disturbances during the winter season affect the weather to quite a large extent. The areas affected by this system usually receive short spell of rain for a day or two. Due to its movement from east to west, it is called Western Disturbance.

Also, some places in the North West plains of Punjab and Haryana are also expected to receive rain. Meanwhile, in Orissa and West Bengal, isolated rain will continue for the next 48 hours. The reason for it being the weakening of the upper air cyclonic circulation in the aforementioned states. Thus, one can only expect slight to very light rain over the coastal regions of Orissa and West Bengal.

The minimum temperature in parts of North West India including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan as well as West Uttar Pradesh will increase marginally. Other parts of the country are expected to remain dry throughout.
